Position Summary

Role has responsibility for overseeing day-to-day large format lithographic printing operations at the Niles, IL plant. Supervising our team members who operate our sheet fed presses, cutting machines, and die-cutter. Responsible
to make sure each team member completes their work in a safe and healthy manner.

 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver to meet or exceed company objectives for safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Create an uncompromising culture of ‘Safety First’ incorporating shop floor organization, housekeeping and cleanliness in coordination with Orora Visual Safety Plan
  • Drive the facility’s safety policies, practices & performance and take personal accountability for making Safety the number one priority.
  • Establish and maintain positive attitudes and behaviors in the press room.
  • Set work schedules and assign team members to work centers to meet the deadlines for production and shipment of final product.
  • Review all quality metrics with plant leaders to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting/problem solving of issues involving equipment and plant
  • Periodically evaluate staffing to support current and future production requirements.
  • Work with clients and sales staff during press approvals to insure we meet client requirements.
  • Effectively judge the performance of others and provide helpful coaching feedback.
  • Maintain Composure when working in high pressure situations.
  • Set and accomplish goals, both individual goals and group goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback about performance to operators.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education, Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of sheetfed lithography and a proven history of leading teams and accomplishing goals.
  • Very experienced with the concepts and processes used for color management in the pressroom, including G7 and L*a*b.
  • Knowledge of the concepts and practices in sheet fed offset lithography including conventional and UV techniques.
  • Understanding of the inter-relationship of printing and finishing processes.
  • Thorough understanding of safety practices, including OSHA regulations for the printing industry, lock out/tag out procedures and hazardous material handling.
  • Proficient with PC programs, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Proficient with Monarch MIS to collect data for improving our manufacturing effectiveness.
  • Ability to analyze production data using spreadsheets and math skills to evaluate opportunities for improvement.
  • Good writing and speaking skills for the accurate communication of information to operators, management, and clients.
  • Proficiency and comfort in making group presentations to operations staff.
  • Understanding of when to use email and when to have face to face conversations.
  • Experience with KBA large format presses preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
