The Role: Prepress Operator

 

Reports to: Prepress Manager

Location: Orora Visual- California, Chicago, New Jersey

FSLA: Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary


We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Experienced Prepress Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing digital files for printing, ensuring that all
files are correctly formatted and ready for production. This role requires a strong understanding of printing processes, color management, and file preparation. The Prepress Operator will work
closely with designers, clients, and production staff to ensure that all projects meet the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities include reviewing and correcting files, creating proofs, and
troubleshooting any issues that may arise during the prepress process. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and a keen eye
for detail. This is a critical role in our production process, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about print and has a strong technical background in prepress operations. If you have

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare digital files for printing.
  • Ensure all files are correctly formatted and ready for production.
  • Create proofs for client approval.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the prepress process.
  • Work closely with designers, clients, and production staff.
  • Maintain and update prepress software and equipment.
  • Ensure all projects meet the highest quality standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Perform color management and correction.
  • Prepare imposition layouts for printing.
  • Conduct preflight checks on all files.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of all prepress activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of prepress procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in graphic design or a related field is a
    plus.
  • Proven experience as a Prepress Operator or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of printing processes and file preparation.
  • Proficiency in prepress software Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
    required)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of color management and correction.
  • Experience with imposition and preflight checks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with different printing techniques and materials.

 

Ability to lift and move heavy materials as needed.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. However, frequent trips to the production floor and other buildings is expected. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; drive; and see.
