The Role: Web Bindery Operator 1/ Stitcher Operator
 

Position Summary
 

This position will be working in a manufacturing facility, producing quality work with machines and by hand as efficiently as possible. It will be in a team atmosphere working as
a team member. This Operator 1 Team Member will primarily take instruction from the Shift Lead/Supervisor.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

This position will be primarily responsible for efficiently operating a variety of machines located in the B-2 Web Bindery. Most of these machines will require a crew to
operate. The responsibility of the crew safety starts with the primary operator. On occasion, this Operator 1 position will require leading a group of employees in a small work cell,
where handwork is involved.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

 

  • Large Machine Operation include:
    • Right angle Buckle Folders; Saddle Stichers; Guillotine Cutters; Collating Machines; etc.
  • Small Machine operation includes:
    • Drills; Shrink Wrappers; Sewing Machines; Grommet Machines; etc.
  • Must be able to lead, organize and control smaller hand work cells
  • Have the ability to read and understand all written and verbal instructions pertaining to the job ticket.
  • Monitor and evaluate production speeds on each job
  • Perform quality checks as required
  • Have the ability to teach each employee how to perform their job duties the most efficient way
  • Complete required paperwork for each job
  • Utilize Automated Equipment whenever possible
  • Responsible for accurate counting, assembling and packaging of completed jobs.
  • Responsible for producing packing lists, carton labels, and skid tickets.
  • Make sure all areas are clear and clean at the end of each job, with tools and supplies that were used returned to their storage locations.

 

Qualifications
 

Education, Skills, Experience & Abilities:
• 2 years’ experience with multiple Large Machines as Operator;
• Reading, writing and communicating clearly are skills needed for this position
• Must meet physical demands of standing, squatting, lifting, and reaching for the entire shift

 

Physical Demands
This job operates in a production environment. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as Presses, Machine Bindery Equipment, and forklifts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; drive; and see.
