Position Summary

Freight Analyst plays a crucial role in managing the transportation of goods and materials, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of products within an organization.

 

A Freight Analyst is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the movement of goods, ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This role involves working closely with carriers, logistics partners, and internal departments to meet transportation needs.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shipment Coordination: Plan, schedule, and coordinate the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Carrier and Vendor Management: Select and work with carriers, freight brokers, and transportation service providers. Uses preferred vendors and ensure they meet service standards and cost targets.
  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and other required documentation.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control transportation expenses, including freight rates, fuel costs, and other related expenses.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all shipments comply with relevant regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, and customs requirements.
  • Shipment Tracking: Monitor and track shipments in real-time, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or delays.
  • Problem Resolution: Address transportation-related issues such as delays, damaged goods, and discrepancies, coordinating solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation operations.
  • Vendor Communication: Maintain effective communication with carriers, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure a smooth transportation process.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize transportation management software and other relevant technology tools to enhance visibility and streamline operations. This includes Orora SAP WM and freight cost accounting.
  • Any additional assigned responsibilities as required

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, and/or 3+ years of related experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and other relevant technology tools.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in the transportation industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
