The Role
Orora is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and drive equipment reliability, safety performance, and continuous improvement across our high-speed manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role provides an opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with people leadership and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical fitters to achieve safety, quality and performance objectives
- Drive a strong safety culture with a commitment to Zero Harm and compliance with HSEQ standards
- Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs to maximise equipment reliability and plant performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical equipment issues, minimising downtime and identifying root causes
- Coordinate suppliers, contractors and maintenance resources to support operational requirements
- Lead capital projects from business case development through to installation, commissioning and handover
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support Lean Manufacturing practices across the site
About You
- Mechanical Trade Qualification is essential
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline is highly regarded
- Proven maintenance leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining plant and production equipment
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience managing maintenance activities, projects, contractors and budgets
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and a passion for continuous improvement
- A proactive, safety-focused approach with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
