The Role
Orora's Cans business is growing! With rising demand across Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania, we're investing $140M into our Rocklea facility, ensuring we can continue to meet growing customer needs. This investment includes a new high-speed can body line, boosting our capacity by 50% and featuring cutting-edge decoration and quality systems.
The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting a team of between 4-6 mechanical fitters, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the site’s equipment and services. You’ll play a key role in planning and executing preventative maintenance activities, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to keep the back end of the plant running smoothly.
Please note: you will be expected to start around 6/6:30am
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a portion of mechanical fitters, providing clear direction and day-to-day supervision
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance activities to support plant reliability and production outcomes
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Manage work orders, spare parts and maintenance planning through the site’s CMMS, ensuring accurate close-out
- Coordinate external labour and service providers, supervising contractors as required
- Liaise with production, engineering and other stakeholders to prioritise work and resolve issues
- Promote strong safety, quality, housekeeping and continuous improvement practices across the team
- Support and contribute to CAPEX projects within your area, including planning, contractor coordination and commissioning activities
About You
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate
- Proven experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to assess issues and implement practical solutions
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience, with the confidence to coach employees and contractors
- Well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- A safety-first mindset, with a proactive and collaborative approach to leadership
