The Role
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, The General Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring maximum reliability and performance of all equipment and ancillary services required to process raw material into molten glass and from molten glass into glass bottles including transport and process into a packed product within an allocated budget. In order to ensure this maximum reliability, the professional holding this position should lead the General Maintenance Department and contribute with the asset maintenance management of equipment as well as the close coordination with other engineering disciplines such as electrical, process control, IS maintenance, Cold End Maintenance and Facilities Maintenance where gaps in this knowledge exist to maintain always a standard of performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Be an advocate for Safety in the workplace participating actively in all Orora Safety programs and complying with WHS Regulations and Codes of Practice.
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance system for the General Maintenance department.
- Track, analyse and improve downtime in the areas of responsibility.
- Supervise and Lead the people and operations of the General Maintenance Department
- Collate and maintain the plant and equipment database.
- Manage the General Maintenance Department budget ensuring plans are in place to optimise performance and meet budget requirements.
- Manage Maintenance activities using the CMMS system. Work with key stakeholders to establish work windows and align work assets to achieve preventative maintenance and Corrective action KPI to drive equipment performance.
- Produce, communicate and distribute the planned maintenance schedules.
- Manage data collection and information gathering to more effectively provide planned maintenance solutions.
- Facilitate RCFA’s (root cause failure analyses)
- Ensure that machine breakdowns are dealt with promptly and that corrective action are taken to prevent future reoccurrences.
- Offer advice and possibly assistance during breakdowns to shift personnel during and out of normal hours of work.
- Maintain job competencies to improve workplace performance by participating in development and training initiatives.
- Ensure that all contractors are fully inducted, competent, and licenced to complete task including permit to work.
- Report all items that cause the machinery to perform under standard and record all machine anomalies in the engineering computerised maintenance management system
About You
- Mechanical Trade certification or related Mechanical Degree with at least 3 years experience in a similar role
- At least 3 years experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Utilities Equipment (air compressors, vacuum systems, process and cooling water systems, cooling fans etc.)
- Have strong and effective communication skills and be capable of communicating at all levels
- Strong experience in positive culture promotion
- Previous experience in leadership roles and have understanding of engagement and performance management
- Previous experience with maintenance roles in a 24/7 operating facility
- Excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise key tasks when required
